All cooperatives in Kenya heads to Maasai mara, Keekorok Lodge to discuss thoroughly the draft cooperative bill 2021 from 13th to 17th December 2021

25 November, 2021

From the 13th to the 17th of December, all cooperative movement leaders will travel to Maasai Mara, Keekorok Lodge, to review the draft cooperative bill 2021 in depth. This meeting will take place following validation on November 30th, and it will provide an opportunity for cooperatives that feel they have been left out to express themselves. The task force has concluded its work and will deliver a zero draft report and conclusions, as well as public participation perspectives, to the Maasai Mara Co-operative leaders for assessment and validation from December 13th to 17th, 2021. Hon. Peter Munya, MGH, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, will speak at the event. This is a follow-up to the highly successful Amboseli Co-operative Leaders Retreat, which determined, among other things, to meet again in 90 days to receive the National Co-operative Policy's operationalization framework. We will have an in-depth discussion about the Co-operative Societies Bill and other legal reforms that will affect the cooperative industry in the future during our stay. The 3rd Co-operative Leaders meeting is expected to verify the much-anticipated Zero draft report before it is submitted to the Cabinet Secretary to be tabled in the cabinet. This is a pivotal conference that will alter the course of Kenya's cooperative movement, and we cordially invite you to participate.
