The Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) is pleased to invite you to participate in the Leadership, ethics and strategic governance Forum, scheduled to take place from 6th to 10th April 2026 at Lake Naivasha Resort

This is a leadership and governance forum convened for SACCO Board Members, Chief Executive Officers, Senior Management, and leaders of National Co-operative Organizations, and will be held under the theme:

“Leading Through Disruptions: The Co-operative Sector Strategic Response at Board and Operational Levels.”

The Co-operative sector is currently operating in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment shaped by rapid technological advancements, regulatory reforms, geopolitical dynamics, demographic shifts, and evolving member expectations. These dynamics demand deliberate, forward-looking leadership at both Board and Management levels to ensure resilience, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability.

In response, CAK is convening this Forum as a structured platform for strategic dialogue, peer learning, and leadership reflection, bringing together Co-operative leaders and industry experts to examine emerging risks and opportunities and to strengthen leadership preparedness across the Co-operative Movement.

Purpose:

To strengthen the capacity of Co-operative leaders to provide effective strategic and operational leadership in a disrupted and rapidly changing environment.

The Forum aims to:

  • Examine the realities of the current operating environment and their implications for the Co-operative sector;
  • Assess leadership preparedness to navigate and lead through emerging disruptions;
  • Identify and unpack strategic imperatives required for business stability and sustainability; and
  • Enhance leadership capacity and capability to steer Co-operatives towards sustained prosperity.

Key Focus Areas

  • Understanding the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment and its implications for the Co-operative sector;
  • Drivers of disruption, including technology, artificial intelligence (AI), ESG considerations, regulation, and demographic shifts;
  • Strategic imperatives across Co-operative subsectors for wealth creation and distribution;
  • Board leadership, governance effectiveness, and strategic oversight – redefining the leadership toolbox; and
  • Management approaches and tools for closing execution gaps to enable Co-operative-modelled enterprises to thrive sustainably.
